What is Hot Shot Trucking?

Hot shot trucking is a niche within the normal trucking industry as a whole. What defines a truck as a hot shot truck is when the delivery needs to happen in a short time frame. In other words, hot shot truck cargo is cargo that needs to make it from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible.
The cargo itself, or the type of vehicle needed to make the delivery, do not determine whether it is hot shot transport. The key point is that these types of loads are very time-sensitive. Often, they need to be delivered the same day (within reason) or otherwise as soon as possible. Types of Hot Shot TrucksNormally, these trucks are smaller than 18-wheeler semi rigs. They are heavy duty pick up trucks that are capable of pulling loads up to about 13 tons (26,000 lbs.) For heavier or larger cargo, a hot shot truck will be pulling a 40' gooseneck trailer. The heavy-duty gooseneck trailers we use are capable of holding about 20,000 pounds.
For anything larger or smaller than that, we have a wide variety of trucks to choose from. Sometimes a cargo van can make the delivery for a pallet of goods. Other times, we need to use one our of tractor-trailers to deliver heavy construction equipment. We can accommodate any sort of cargo you need hauled. |

Hot shot expedited loads aren't just limited to smaller, non-CDL deliveries. Large equipment requiring a semi with a flatbed, or a bed truck, is not out of the norm. Especially in remote areas where access with a normal vehicle can be hazardous.
